Getting Started

Welcome to MyVSSL! This guide walks you through creating your account and getting started.

Account Types

MyVSSL offers two account types:

Important: Choose your account type during signup - this determines your experience in the app.

Creating Your Account

Step 1: Open the MyVSSL app

Sign up and log in at the MyVSSL app. This website (myvssl.com) is the public marketing site and does not host signup.

To try a test environment first, use the sandbox. You can also use the mobile app where it is available.

Step 2: Choose "Sign Up"

Click the Sign Up button on the welcome screen.

Step 3: Select Your Account Type

Before authentication, you'll be asked to choose:

• Vessel Owner - For boat owners
• Marine Professional - For service providers

Step 4: Authenticate

Choose your preferred method:

• Google Sign-In - Quick signup with your Google account
• Apple Sign-In - Use your Apple ID (iOS/macOS)
• Email & Password - Create a traditional account

Step 5: Complete Your Profile

After authentication, you'll complete your profile based on your account type.

For Vessel Owners

After signing up as a Vessel Owner:

1. Add Your Details

   • Your name and contact information
   • Your vessel details (make, model, year, registration)

2. Add Vessel Photo & Location

   • Upload a photo of your vessel
   • Set your vessel's home location on the map

3. Start Using MyVSSL

   • Browse the marketplace for services
   • Track your vessel's maintenance
   • Book marine professionals

For Marine Professionals

After signing up as a Marine Professional:

1. Create Your Organization

   • Business name (automatically deduplicated)
   • Work email address
   • Business phone and address

2. Verify Your Email

   • A verification email is sent automatically
   • Click the magic link to verify (valid for 24 hours)
   • Verification is required to access professional features

3. Start Using MyVSSL

   • Add your services and pricing
   • Manage clients and their vessels
   • Receive and respond to booking requests

Logging In

Already have an account?

1. Click Log In on the welcome screen
2. Enter your credentials or use OAuth (Google/Apple)
3. You'll be directed to your dashboard based on your account type

Switching Between Modes

If you're both a vessel owner AND a marine professional:

• Marine Professionals can access vessel owner features
• Use the dropdown menu to switch between sections
• Your vessels and business are managed separately

Troubleshooting

Can't log in?

• Click Forgot Password to reset your password
• Ensure you're using the same authentication method you signed up with

Didn't receive verification email?

• Check your spam/junk folder
• Request a new verification email from the app
• Apple Private Relay emails may have delivery delays

Need to change account type?

• Contact support through the in-app feedback system
• Account types cannot be changed directly by users
