Learn how to set up your service catalog and manage parts inventory in MyVSSL.

Service Catalog

Your service catalog defines what services you offer and at what price.

  • Service name
  • Category
  • Base price
  • Status (Active/Inactive)

  • Per Foot - Based on vessel length (common for surveys)
  • Quote Required - Price varies, quote on request

Service Categories

MyVSSL uses standardized service categories:

CategoryExamples
SurveyPre-purchase, Insurance, Condition
MaintenanceAnnual service, Winterization
RepairEngine, Hull, Electrical
InstallationElectronics, Equipment
SpecialtyCanvas, Rigging, Detailing

Categories help clients find your services in the marketplace.

Trades and Quick Setup

Trades on your organization are orgTypes. They are not a separate menu item, and there is no /help/professionals/trades/ page. Set them up from Services (/servicesList).

When the catalog is empty, the screen says "No services yet" and "Use Quick Setup to pre-fill your catalog from your org type, or tap + to create services manually."

Quick Setup (organization admins, managers, and global admins):

  • If the organization has no trades, the dialog says "Quick Setup builds your service catalog from your selected trades. Add at least one trade to continue."
  • The picker title is "Quick Setup: services for your trades".
  • You can still tap + and create a service yourself.

Trades are a hint for Quick Setup. They do not limit which catalog categories you can offer.

Location coverage

Manage location coverage is on the same Services screen. It is shown to organization admins, managers, and global admins.

The dialog title is "Manage location coverage". The text is "Choose which of your active services are performed at this location." Pick a location when you have more than one, then turn category chips on or off. Saving updates that location's coverage.

  • No location yet: "Add a location in Org Settings before assigning coverage."
  • No active service yet: "Create an active service before assigning location coverage."

Coverage is where you perform a service. The catalog is what you offer. This button does not add a category to the catalog. A coverage refresh only removes categories you no longer perform. It does not add a category.

Components

Components in the menu opens Component Manager (/componentManager). It lists client vessels and their components (clientComponents).

Filters: All, Missing components, Has components.

Actions on a vessel include Generate Components, Add Components, View Vessel, and Remove.

This is not the owner Maintenance screen (/vessel/maintenance).
